The Vedanta Society of Portland is an accredited branch of the Ramakrishna Order of India.

Its minister, Swami Shantarupananda, is a monk of the Order.

Vedanta is a Sanskrit word which literally means "the end of the Vedas"- the Vedas being the scriptures of the Hindus.

The Center offers encouragement and guidance to spiritual seekers through lectures, readings, discussions, publications, and personal guidance.
