This biography reveals the life story of Swami Ashokananda (1893-1969), a monk of the Ramakrishna Order, who was a brilliant pioneer of the Vedanta movement in northern California. In 1948, Sister Gargi, then Marie Louise Burke, met Swami Ashokananda and became his disciple. The relationship this extraordinary teacher had with the day-to-day spiritual training of his students, and his commitment and passion to keet uplifted the highest ideals of Vedanta comes to life in this outpouring of her heart.
