Centenary Year of Vedanta in Portland
October 6, 1925 - October 6, 2026
Yearlong Celebration
October 6, 2025- October 6, 2026

Cordial Invitation

Dear Devotees, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

The Vedanta Society of Portland was established on October 6, 1925.  For a century, the Society has stood as a beacon of teachings of Vedanta, nurturing seekers with the timeless wisdom of the Upanishads and the compassionate teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and all world teachers.

This milestone is not merely a marker of time but a testament to the enduring relevance of spiritual ideals in modern life, offering spiritual services, guidance to seekers, cultural harmony, and service to humanity.

Such a rare milestone presents us with a sacred opportunity to reflect on our ideals, to rekindle the spirit that inspired us, to recall the glorious days of the past, and to draw fresh inspiration for the growth that lies ahead.

We are delighted to announce that this special occasion will be celebrated by hosting a yearlong series of programs, culminating in a grand convention of devotees from October 2 to 4. A program, Service to God in Man, will be organized on October 5, and to conclude it, a special puja will be performed on October 6, 2026.

The Vedanta Society of Portland cordially invites you to join us in this year-long centenary celebration of its sacred journey and support us in celebrating this great occasion. May we all gain renewed spiritual impetus and fervor and move together toward the greater goal of life.

Dear Devotees and Friends,

By the grace of the Divine Trinity, the Centenary Convention of the Vedanta Society of Portland will be held from October 2 to 4, 2026, marking the closing session of the year-long centenary celebration of the Vedanta movement in Portland and celebrating the spiritual legacy entrusted to our community.

We cordially and respectfully invite you and your near and dear ones to join us on this historic occasion and to bless the Convention with your presence. Your participation will enrich the collective spirit of the gathering and benefit us all.

The ideal set forth by Swami Vivekananda—“to preach unto mankind their divinity, and how to make it manifest in every movement of life”—forms the heart of this convention.

The Convention seeks:

1.  To remind us of our inherent divine nature from various perspectives and to explore practical ways of manifesting this divinity through thought, word, and action.

2.  To deepen our understanding of Vedantic teachings and reaffirm our commitment to living these ideals.

3.  To cultivate strength of thought, harmony, and universal love in an age marked by restlessness and uncertainty.

Sixteen distinguished monastics will share their thoughts and practical insights across five sessions, interwoven with devotional music and other uplifting programs. Their collective wisdom will illuminate many dimensions of Swamiji’s message and offer practical guidance for our daily lives.

We look forward to welcoming you with humility, regards, and loving greetings.

Yours in the services of the Divine,

Swami Chandrashekharananda and the devotees of  Portland
